Swedish Armed Forces recruit via live video link with soldiers during an exercise

Swedish Armed Forces offers unusual job interviews.

Potential employees have the opportunity to talk to a professional driver, a military dog handler and liaison officers in the middle of an ongoing exercise. Under the theme, "Like any other job interview. Almost", people will be able to talk to the officers and soldiers live via online video conferencing.

From May 20 to June 1st, the Swedish Armed Forces will give viewers the opportunity to speak directly with soldiers during different exercises. It is a very different kind of videoconference interview via the website intervju.forsvarsmakten.se.

-" We'd like to open up the Swedish Armed Forces for those who are interested in getting a better understanding of what we are doing", says Robert Forss, Head of Marketing Communications Branch at the Swedish Armed Forces.

The new campaign is a way to create a dialogue with the target group of young adults and showcase the breadth of careers within the Swedish Armed Forces. One can be a soldier, sailor, specialist or manager, work part-time as well as full-time or as volunteers.

- "Our recruitment campaigns have previously tried to move the experience closer to reality, and this is as close as it gets. Now we welcome potential recruits to our reality in real time", says Annika Ivner, Marketing Project Manager at the Swedish Armed Forces.

Through the campaign, those who are interested in a job come into direct contact with people in four different professional roles in their real work environment.

-" It can sometimes be difficult to explain to the less experienced what I do during the day. Therefore, it will be exciting to participate in this campaign. I'm sure it will be easier for people to understand my work if I can demonstrate and discuss it live", says Lieutenant Alexander Svensson, who will be conducting interviews during an exercise.

The new campaign will include, TV, outdoor and online and can be seen from May 11th until June 17th. Potential recruits can apply to have interviews with the Swedish Armed Forces personnel on the site. The first interview was broadcast live on May 20th.
